Dell Venue Pro 8 (DVP8) Windows 8.1 Repair Problem
Hello,
I have a DVP8 that needs to be repaired using a repair disk. The problem is that I do not have a cable that will allow the attachment of the repair disk and have the DVP8 to be plugged in (required) at the same time. Does anyone know of a cable that will allow this system to be connected to a repair disk and be connected to an electrical outlet at the same time? I see that there is a 3 in 1 USB OTG Cable adapter (Micro USB Hub via Amazon) available but don't know if it is compatible with this system. Thanks for your time.

I don't believe that the adapter identified by you will work, as the DV8P won't accept power and data at the same time without a special setup and/or technology.
However, other products are around that indeed will work to supply both power and data to the DV8P at the same time--the +Port (also available via Amazon.com) and the Vener8.
And, Dell has just issued out its own simultaneous power+data cable adapter, available at its website (and recently with free overnight shipping, probably helpful for you) and at a much lower price than the above competing devices. (You might check for Dell discount coupons for your purchase--there just was a Dell 10%-off coupon (expired a few days ago). Also, although the website currently states 5-7 business days for shipping, people actually have been receiving their orders in 2 days or less from ordering--pretty amazing.)

One thing: I'm not sure what medium your repair disk is on. If a flashdrive, there should be no issue with the above. If a portable hard drive that gets its power through the tablet's USB port, the DV8P may not be able to provide enough power to run the portable hard drive (this is hard drive specific) and you may have to run the portable hard drive through a powered USB hub which you then connect to the above.

Cool--it works well, I've found, and can even let some peripheral devices (portable hard drives and portable DVD drives) work when plugged into the Dell dongle and when the wall power also is attached to the dongle, where they wouldn't work when connected directly to the tablet, as the tablet couldn't supply enough power to them directly for them to run.
Just announced, the price of the Vener8 power+data device has just been cut in half, to around match the price of the Dell dongle.

I received a recovery and restore usb key and otg cable today from Dell, due to my having had problems with my Dell Venue 8 pro since ī purchased it. How can I use this key on my Venue, bearing in mind that I only have the usb key, the otg cable and the tablet to do the job? I've tried to install the media from the key, but it tells me I need both the usb key and the maīns power.
The tablet is fully booted, but the problem with it is that I cannot reset my account to allow me to sign in with a numeric pin, nor can I reset the tablet, for the reasons explained above.
