Dell Venue 8 Pro windows store and windows update issues

Hello,

I've recently bought a Dell Venue 8 Pro 32gb tablet.  Everything has been working fine with no problems, but then just the other day I could no longer access the windows store.  It's just stuck at the green loading screen and never changes.  I've tried wsrest.exe, but that didn't do anything.  Also, and I don't know if these are related, I've read that the windows store problems can come from needing to install some windows updates.  So I tried to open Windows updates but I can't access any option, every time I click on something it just freezes.  So I don't know what is going on!  if anybody can help that would be greatly appreciated.

Hello, I also have had the same issue but have managed to resolve it. I went into desktop and accessed the control panel. Clicked on system and security, and then under windows update click on "check for updates." Once done it should tell you that you have updates and click on install. Let it do its thing and when it asks to restart do so and once rebooted and all updates installed the windows store should work again as that how I got mine going again. Hope it helps.

I am having this same issue. Both the Store and Windows Update either spin forever or freeze. Have you heard anything?

Hello, I've had exactly the same issue on my venue 8 pro. The Windows Store was not launching and also the windows update was freezing (and I wasn't even aware about it until I found this thread). I tried every tip I could find on the internet: removing the cache directory, re-registering the windows store appx, ccleaner, all with no effect. I was on the verge of a full windows re-installation but luckily you've posted your solution today. Thank you for that! After I clicked for "check for updates" both windows update system and windows store work now! Hooe this will also help the others.

I hope this helps you, but it helped me.  What I did was go onto  Dell's official website and use their support tools to check for outdated drivers.  The website found some that were out of date, I clicked update (On the tablet) and it did it's thing.  After a reboot then everything started working fine again.  Hope that helps.

Tried all suggested fixes I could find to cure this issue and nothing worked so I finally called Dell Technical Support. After being transferred 4 times I was finally advised that they could not tell me why it was doing that until I purchased a warranty on my just over 1 year old Venue. I indicated that I had purchased 27 new Dells for my business direct from Dell, so she could verify, since 94 and she indicated that didn't matter. On my way to Apple store now, I would highly recommend anyone else should too!!

I understand your concern, but Apple doesn't follow warranties as well?  Having said that, though, I guess one potentially could get assistance at an Apple store.
