Dell Venue 8 Pro- Wifi Help & Mouse...

I recently purchased a new Dell Venue 8 Pro and I'm having a problem with the Wifi connection..it seems to need to have me enter the password everytime I reboot it.  It also says limited connection so not sure if this can be fixed as well. I also wanted to know since I can't seem to right click is there a mouse that will work with the  Dell Venue 8 Pro  ?

I did see that it does allow the same results doing that for a right click. I also just ordered a wireless mouse for the Dell Venue Pro. Thanks,

Hi, Dave - hold your touch until a circle appears under your finger - trust it's there if you have large fingers - and when you lift off, it will the same effect as a right-click. If you have an OTG, or "On the Go" cable, you can use any mouse, keyboard, etc. that works with Windows. Hmm - Now I've forgotten what your real question was.

OK - "limited connection" means that it can reach some host, but isn't able to get an internet connection from it. Since it's touching the host, the problem is likely on the other end. Make sure that your router is accepting the tablet without any restrictions. How to do that varies with the type of router. Requiring you to log in to the WiFi network over and over is a clue that the connection is the problem.

Try another network to verify that the problem isn't the tablet.  (McDonalds or Starbucks will work if you're urban and have the munchies.)  Speaking of that, I learned today that even Home Depot is selling OTG cables. They're in the phone section.

Fix that and I suspect it'll fix your problem with the Windows Store, too.

I'm sorry that I couldn't be more specific. Good luck with this.

Hi, Dave - hopefully you ordered a Bluetooth mouse. The tablet has BT built in. The wireless mouse types that use a "dongle" or small adapter have to always be plugged in to an OTG cable in order to use, sort of complicating things and not really great for portability.

I'm glad you're up and running. I still think the DVP8 is a cool little tablet.

Click the wifi icon from the notifications area at the bottom right in desktop view and click on your network.  if it says connected there, click disconnect and you will see a checkbox to connect automatically, check it and then connect again. More settings available from control panel, click on network and sharing center within the control panel while you are connected to wifi.  Once there, click on your named connection, clicking disable button there followed by (re)enable apparently has the same effect as the "repair" option available from windows 7pro that I am used to, but can't find in windows 8.1.  Has anyone found a one-click repair connection in win 8.1?  Repairing is nice because you dont have to do a hard reset on the router most of the time, at least in my case.  (It also keeps me from having to get off my recliner most of the time.)

On my tablet, I use the stylus, press the bottom-button, and tap directly on the WiFi signal-strength icon on the task bar. The option is "Troubleshoot problems." I think it's the same as "Repair" in Windows 8. (Left-click, normal tap, brings up that slide-in Metro thing, which I fail to admire most of the time.)

Without a stylus, it would be tricky finger-work for tap and pause on the icon, but the effect will be the same.
