DELL VENUE 7 EXTERNAL STORAGE PROBLEM
Recently I bought a dell venue 7 16GB. And also i got a brand new micro sd card for it. Since im new to android i thought that when my internal memory runs out the OS well start moving stuff to the sd card, but it didnt so i tried to do it manually. I looked at some tutorials on how to do it and all said that you should have a "move to sd card" feature when you go to settings>apps and choose an app you want to move to sd card. But the "move to sd card" was not there so i looked at some other tutorials for 4.2.2 JB android and some tutorials said u need an app to do it so i got "app 2 sd" and that did not work it gave me an error saying " The device does not have a real primary external storage, or the primary external storage is emulated" confused i went to http://techgage.com/article/moving_your_non-movable_android_apps_to_an_sd_card/#comment-1189559025 and followed the tutorial there and it still did not work! So can someone tell me how i can get "move to sd card" or is my tablet broken or is the SD cards fault?
THANKS!

Neither. Apparently this has to be enabled in the OS by Dell and they chose not to do it.

Are they going to reconsider or my sd card is useless and i wasted $20? because i think it should be up to me on what i move to the sd card and i should have all rights since i am the owner of the device, but its up to them.

I'm confused. I found this thread when looking for the maximum size Venue 8 sdhc. I had an 8gb card and put it in my Venue 8. ES Explorer found the card. I erased the data on the card and loaded 2 mb of mp3 music. The card works and the music plays using either Google Music Player (which limits volume) or ES Explorer.
What am I missing here?
P.S. Dell Venue 8 Android running 4.3 from OTA update.

I have a Venue 8 as well. The sdcard works fine. You can see the status of the card in settings-->storage but as posted above you need a a file manager like esfile explorer to copy, move or play files. If your trying to move apps to the sdcard you can't do that. Even if you have "move to sdcard" as an option in settings that is not moving your apps to their external card. This is one of the most misunderstood features in android.

I have the app2sd app on another tablet and my phone and it works fine there. It moves apps to the SD card on both those devices. Why not on dell? Is this just something dell doesn't want to let customers use?

ummmm the max external storage capacity is 16GB, putting in an SD card that is over the capacity will make things unstable. It may register but it probably will not be usable. That's how it normally will work with ANY device. Try using a 16GB card and report back on how it works.

Actually, Dell specifically stated that the tablet supports up to 32GB memory cards. The problem is you can't move apps to it because it lacks support.

I'm running a 32gb card for music and movies. Have no problems. Load the card via computer attached with usb cable.
