Dell Venue 11 Pro keyboard

I have had the 11 Pro for some time but just got the Dell keyboard. I cannot get it to recognize or charge the keyboard battery. I have plugged the keyboard in directly overnight and also attached the keyboard to the tablet and charged both overnight. The tablet will still not recognize the battery and the power manager says the battery cannot be recognized.

Any ideas?
