Dell Venue 11 pro 5130 Display brightness flickering

Hey,

I have noticed some problems with my display. The brightness is flickering sometimes. You can see it best, when the on screen keyboard is opened. Anyone else noticed that? Is it a hardware or a software problem?

I was experiencing the same issue with my Venue 11. It is caused by a graphics adapter display setting.

Go to the desktop mode, right click on the desktop, open the Intel Graphics Properties. Go to energy-settings and disable 'Auto Panel Refresh'.

This has resolved the issue for me and as far as I can tell, there is no noticable impact on battery-life.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for this, solved the problem on my 5130 - was worried I was going to have to return it!! It's called 'panel self-refresh' in my drivers.

You will still see some pumping in certain instances if you only turn off self refresh.  To completely eliminate it you need to turn off display power saving technology as well.  I have no idea how these tablets made it through QC testing with these settings enabled by default.   There is no doubt they ate a good number of returns/exchanges over it and wasted a lot of support resources on it.

Yes I've noticed the same problem. Also, when I disconnect it from the mobile keyboard the tablet crashes! I don't know if these are related issues, but I wish you the best on yours.

I was getting headaches due to the flickering, and i was quite worried that i would have to return the Venue. This fixed the flickering. It also seems to allow the onscreen keyboard respond better. Thank you.

I had this problem, too, and the fix listed in this thread seems to have fixed it.

Thanks for the tip, this totally solved my issue. I have only had the device 3 days and I though I would have to send it back.

Thanks for the tip. Had this issue too, device delivered yesterday. I wonder why this option is still on by default.. Come on Dell, these devices are great, but minor issues can really kill interest for Windows tablets. People on this thread Google first, but most will either just return it or get frustrated and buy an iPad or Android device.

OH MY GOD...I can not believe that Dell Tech support never tells you this. I have sent my original tablet back 4 times for repair & replacement. They even replaced the screen on once. This has cost them a fortune and me a ton of time.
