Dell 5175 Charging
I am looking at taking a dell 5175 hiking.
Will this laptop "slow charge" off of a usb connection that is less than the wattage or Amperage of
the supplied charger?
Besides the manual saying use only the power supply (im looking for something beyond the manual answer).... I know a lesser power adapter will not *power* the thing properly.....but will the tablet **charge while off** from...say...a 1amp current?
Would someone be willing to try charging their tablet with an old cell phone 1amp 5v charger to see? I would send you love.

I tried with a 2.4 amp USB charger and the 5175 didn't indicate it was charging. I suspect it won't charge at all with only 5 volts applied.
What about the 8 inch 5855 (get it with 4 GB/64 GB)? The 5855 comes with a 5 v 2 amp charger.
The 5855 is kind of small for heavy-duty work but it's small to carry.
I got a 5175 for travelling and got a 5855 to travel with instead.

With a normal USB charger it wont charge at all because you will be trying to charge at 5V/2.4a vs. what the 5175 charger does at 20V/2.25a

It looks like the charger that comes with the 5175 can negotiate different voltages.
USB C allows for different charging voltages too. (I'm not sure if the 5175 is compliant with all the USB C stuff.)
5 volts is really too low to charge batteries in a reasonable amount of time (and the 5175 battery is fairly big).
