del venue 8 pro error code 0x0000034

I went through google and dell forum, but nothing showed me how to recover from this problem

"The Boot Configuration Data file is missing some required information.
File: \BCD
Error Code: 0x000000d
You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media, If you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device), contact your system administrator or PC manufacturer."
I went through microsoft website with boot-configuration-data-file-is-missing-some/86f9ae5e-b28c-4cba-b7ce-750a6978b1e7, but no use and issue with supporting 32bit UEFI instead of 64bit.  And dell forum even shows how to do USB boot, 32 fat and boot files, but my dell venue refuses to boot into the USB  to move away from the blue Error Code screen.  If I have the RT windows, I would .. download the  Surface RT 8.0 North America zip to fix it.
Any suggestion/info would be great.
Thank you

Things you need to fix this error:

- Female usb to male micro usb

- usb with at least 4.1 g usb size(8 gig usb)

- A hotmail account( to download the windows enterprise trial)

The first thing you will need to do is download the windows enter prize Iso. (http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/hh699156.aspx)

NOTE: Please download the 32 bit version. The 64 bit version is not bootable. You will be unable to boot to windows.

Fill out the information and download it .

Next you will need to image the iso to the usb. ( To do this you need to download ultra Iso. )

Once the iso is imaged onto the usb.  You need to access the bios.( To do this after pressing down power hold the volume down key briefly.)

Click on the boot tab , and change boot option priorities from windows boot manager to your usb.

Save and reset.

Once the boot to the enterprise screen and asks for your country . Turn off the tablet.

Boot normally and the error should be solved.

Note: if you want to actually put the operating system on the dell venue 8 pro. You are going to need a usb hub and a mouse and keyboard. It does not respond to touch.

Hi, Lostme - Is the rest of the hard drive intact? I mean you haven't removed the recovery partition to save space, right?

Did you create a recovery USB flash drive?

I'm thinking that barring sending it back to Dell for re-imaging, you'll need to get into a recovery environment in order to refresh or repair the PC.

Thanks ST. LAMAR.  I did not do anything with the partitions on my 10 days old Venue.  I can see 4 total in the BIOS A05.   I created a USB boot drive, but this venue never wants to boot into the USB.

Hi, Lostme. Well, you gave it your best shot. I think it's time to get Dell involved. They'll probably try some of the same steps we tried, but that appears to be a BCD/boot error. I suspect that you'll be exchanging this V8P. Bummer, but it happens.

This is also an example of why it's good to have a system image backed up. Windows backup itself copies the boot partition, winretools, and the system partition. I feel that if you'd had that backup, you might have been able to restore the EFI partition.

But there's no reason to put up with this on a 10-day old unit. Exchange that thing.

I tried your options a few times, but this venue always moved back to the Error code: 0x0000034.  I even tried to load boot.wim and the tablet said in a black screen

"internal hard disk drive not found

to resolve this issue, try to reseat the drive.

To try boot press F1/VolumeUp key

To change setup option press F2/VolumeDown key

To run onboard diagnostics press F5/Home key"

Hi, Lostme - So you obviously already have the flash drive. Great! You need to go into the BIOS settings to set it to boot from USB in preference to the internal flash drive. (Yep - it has a flash drive soldered to the motherboard rather than an SSD. I can't bring myself to call it a hard drive.)

Turn off the V8P with a long press of the power button. Give it a second and you should see the notification LED flash once to indicate it's changing state.

Make sure you have the OTG cable attached and the flash drive in place. (The tablet should have a good charge, too.)

Then press and hold the power button and press hold the Windows button. When the Dell logo appears, release first the power button and then the Windows button. At the bottom of the screen will be a legend. Don't spend much time looking at it! Instead press the volume button closest to the power button (volume up or plus). In the boot-up menu, tap on "Enter setup."

Tap on "Boot." Then tap "Windows Boot Manager" adjacent to "Boot Option 1." The popup should let you select the USB flash drive. After that, the Windows boot manager should move down to the number 2 position.

Tap the green keyboard icon at top right. You need the keyboard because it has the function keys on it.
(Avoid accidentally tapping ESC as that will toss you right out and you'll have to try again. I've been there, done that.)  Tap F10, and it'll popup "Save configuration and reset?" Yes/No. Tap Yes.

When it restarts, you should see the flash drive begin to flash, indicating that it's loading from the USB-attached drive.

Let us know what happens next.

Just have my dell fixed and returned to me, but I then have some other problems.  Now it is taking forever to charge my DV8P.  I thought the USB cable was bad, but It was not after I changed it to a new one.  After 2 hours I get only 25% charged power.  My old one took 2 hours for a complete charge of 100%.  My wifi then gets slower and slower after each time it returns from sleep.  A motherbooard and DPK card were replaced/repaired on my system.

Hi - did you try a very long press of the power button? Some folks have reported that it resets the charge mechanism and enables charging after a big discharge. Hate to think it came back unfixed.

ADROITBOSS:

Thank you very much!  I have a Latitude 10 ST2E tablet that was showing the BCD error 0x0000034 and your instuctions worked perfectly.

Adroit,

First, THANK YOU!!  Your steps worked, almost without problem.  I D/L the file to the flash drive, but my drive was not bootable and my V8P didn't boot from it.  I extracted the .iso to my usb flash drive and tried that, and bam!!  I was back up and running.

Thanks again!
