can I use HA24NM130 adapter to charge other devices

The label of my Venue 11 pro power adapter specifies an output of 19.5V 12A or 5V 2A. I was wondering if it can be used to charge 5V devices such as my phone or my kids' toys. The newer smart adapter can automatically detect the voltage required to charge smart devices. But I am not sure if this old adapter is the smart type?

The HA24NM130 adapter isn’t really “smart” like newer USB-PD chargers. It puts out 19.5V through the barrel plug for your Venue 11 Pro, that’s way too high for phones or kids’ toys. The 5V 2A part on the label usually just means the laptop itself has a USB port that can deliver that for charging phones through the laptop, not directly from the adapter.

So basically:

It’s fine to charge your phone or toys through the laptop’s USB ports when the laptop’s plugged in.

It’s not safe to hook up 5V devices directly to the adapter’s barrel plug, it’ll output 19.5V and could ruin them.

I’d stick with a normal phone charger or power bank for your other devices. These older laptop adapters don’t negotiate the voltage automatically like newer chargers do.
