7840, both now dead.
So for Christmas last year i purchased 2 venue 8's. one for my son and one for my daughter. One 16gb, one 32. A little more than a year later they are both dead.
Both died the same exact way. First, started shutting off at about 36% battery. Then a few weeks later just died. The tablets will attempt to boot, but wont boot up completely. Just see the dell and intel animations over and over. Did a reset from initial boot but that didn't really help.
Dell, why did you make a tablet? It just makes you look bad when they all fail. Do you think I will ever spend money on a dell tablet again? I know lots of people with IPad 2's still going 5 years on. And I have 2 malfunctioning venue 8 7840's in a year and a half.

I do agree with this, the battery performance is really bad. The venue 8, 7840 tablets shuts off when battery still shows 45 % remaining..
After reading above post, I am afraid it is going to be dead soon...looks like i am on the way to loose my hard earn money. I am regretting my decision to choose Dell venue 8 over NVIDIA Shield Tablet K1.

I also regret trusting that dell would make a good android tablet and then support that tablet if it had defects. I think dell took our money and ran with it. I don't think dell cares about it's tablet users and the silence on this issue is deafening.

i bought this one and the battery gets to about 42% then it just shuts off and while it is on, the battery life has gone downhill fast over the course of the 2 years ive owned it. Having the batter shut off before 0% has made this thing almost useless, what a piece of junk!
