Windows DataCenter 2022 Downgrade - Product Key Issue
Does anyone have any advice for me? I purchased an R440 with Datacenter 2022. Along with the server, I received downgrade kits to both 2019 and 2016. The media contains DataCenter 2019 and DataCenter 2016, as it should. My issue is the product keys are for 2019 and 2016 Standard.
For stability and not wishing to be bleeding-edge DataCenter 2019 was installed before I realized the product keys were wrong.
So, I opened a tech support case, which was then referred to my sales rep, who now has multiple levels of management trying to figure out how to get me the DC 2019 and DC 2016 keys. This is now over two months. Should it be this difficult? I tried reaching out to Microsoft and they say contact Dell of course.
Anyone have any advice? Any other remedies to try? Seems to be a relatively easy fix but so far has not been resolved by Dell. Seriously thinking of moving on if this is as good as they can be.

Hi,
If you have similar issue as the product key provided on the downgrade kit is different from the OS version, I strongly suggest contacting the sales department to obtain support as technically it's out of my support to help provide alternative options/solutions.

Hi Felipe,
I am sorry to hear that. It took a long time to resolve and was not a pleasant experience. In the end Dell did correct the issue to my satisfaction. They provided licensing for 2022 which then allowed the downgrade licensing.
It took many levels of management and multiple escalations however. I hope you have a successful resolution as well. It is simply a mistake that should have been quickly resolved but it was a lengthy process.
