TLS version for firmware 1.66.65
greetings,
we've got IDRAC7's in our machines, currently running firmware v.1.20.20. this version doesn't support TLS over v.1.0, which is causing us problems with remote access (SSL_ERROR_UNSUPPORTED_VERSION). does v.66.65 (the latest version possible for idrac7) support TLS 1.2 ?
thanks

Hello,
TLS 1.2 authentication was new to iDRAC 2.40.40.40
2.40.40.40 Release Notes page 9
https://dell.to/3Y91QSu
Provided you are not above these firmware versions, you can do your update in this order:
If you are at or above one of the version levels listed then skip to the next higher version than you have installed. Key is you shouldn't need to downgrade a version if you are already at or above the version.
I have provided links from the support page for R720 server:

-Note if you have these OS: Windows Server 2012, Windows Server 2008 R2, and Windows 7 do not support TLS 1.2 and TLS 1.1. Install the following update to enable TLS1.2 and TLS 1.1 as a default secure protocols in WinHTTP in Windows: https://dell.to/3XZv4De

hi charles,
many thanks for your reply.
our servers are specifically WS 2012 R2, which apparently supports TLS 1.2 natively w/o windows driver update https://dell.to/3XZv4De.
do i understand you correctly, in that we'll need to perform idrac firmware updates for all of the 7 steps you outline above? i was under the impression that the very latest software an idrac-7 could run is v.1.66.65.
regards

Hello,
You're correct; that Windows update is not for your OS.
Yes the iDRAC7 has firmware more recent than 1.66.65.
What is your server model?

Hello,
Thank you for the server model.
If you go here : https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-us
Input service tag
Select Drivers&Downloads tab
Select your OS
Keyword search term: iDRAC
You should see iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller v. 2.65.65.65 as the most recent version.
So you can use the step previously posted.
