Support for Seagate Exos Series and H700 Raid Controller
Hello. I'm new to Dell and have some questions using my Poweredge R710. The server has the default PERC 6/i Raid Controller. I just bought a new HDD Hard Drive from Seagate (6TB Exos). I already know that the PERC 6/i does not use hard drives larger than 1TB so I also bought a new PERC H700 to install it into the server. My questions are now:
1) Which cables do I need for the H700 to connect it?
2) Does the Exos Series work with the H700. I already get a 1810 Error (Hard Drive Fault. Please review and clear SEL)
Thanks for all responses.

Lober2,
I am not seeing any drives listed for the R710 larger than a 4TB, so I don't believe the drive is supported.
Now with the cables, it will depend on if it is a 2.5 or 3.5 in drive configuration. The SAS 0 and SAS 1 cables for the 3.5 backplane are part # N170M and P110M, for the 2.5 it is part # R145M (both sides).
Also, just to clarify, the Perc 6/i has a physical disk limitation of 2TB.
Let me know if this helps.

Thanks a lot for the fast response. So I can only use hard drives with a size of 4TB right (Also Exos Series or is there a more common hard drive series)? Is there a list of usable Hard Drives to look for. The hard drive configuration is 3.5'' so would need the N170M and P110M cables right?

Hi I personally think these are correct part numbers but I couldn't find a part picture internally that I can reference with- this is such an old part- to be absolutely sure.
