Run OMSA 11 under non-root user on Linux

Hi folks,

I'm wondering, if there any way to run OMSA on Linux under normal user, and not the root user ?

Normally, when OMSA is installed, its processes running by root user. Yep, we just need to change it for our purposes.

OS RHEL 8 to be precise.

Hi,

Are you referring "to run OMSA" as in installation of OMSA or to log in to OMSA as non-root user?

Just to clarify, OMSA 11 only can be supported by RHEL 8.6 and above.

I mean the installation and configuration, which allows me to run omsa as a non-root user.

I have OS RHEL 8.7 and higher, OMSA is up and running without problems.

To install and configure it would have to be the root user, once it is installed and configured you can then use non-root accounts to access OMSA, with permissions configured.

Hope this helps.

Hi Chris!

No, that is not what I asked for.

I need to run Dell OMSA processes in Linux under non-root user.

When I start srvadmin-services.sh script, the OMSA's service processes are running by root user.

This is actually a problem for us.

No, that's not what I'm looking for.

It is regarding creation of a separate system user for the login in to OMSA.

But thanks anyway.
