R710 - System Services Disabled

Hi,

About 3 weeks ago after a power failure, my R710 has started to report "System Services Disabled" at boot up and the fans run at max speed constantly.

Having ordered and installed a replacement idrac 6 card the error is still being reported.
I did find this YouTube video : https://youtu.be/WrdziO6KjQ4, and have followed the steps given here with no luck.
On the management port i do see the activity light active, I have also noticed that the LCD display on front is also not displaying anything or light up when the server is powered on (idrac installed or not).
I also found this discussion https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/poweredge-hardware-general/dell-poweredge-t710-update-failure-system-services-is-disabled/647f4c6df4ccf8a8de5153d6 but as mentioned by

sir_timbit, I am also not seeing the CTRL+E option at boot up, only the following:

I have no issues in having the idrac card removed from the server, i just need the fans to not run at max speed.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Sunnyghat,

What I would suggest is powering down the server, then remove the power cord, and then hold the power button down to drain the flea power. After that try clearing the NVram, which you can see the location as well as the jumper position on the underside of the servers cover.

Once you move the jumper over then restore the power cable and then power up the server. Once you complete the NCram clear then power back down and restore the jumper to its original location. After that restore the power cord again, this time give the server about 2-3 minutes BEFORE powering back on. After that time then power on and see if the iDrac is accessible and working as it should.

If not then you may need to try the repair package found here.

Also, would you confirm the BIOS and iDrac versions?

Let me know what you see.

Hi @DELL-Chris H,

Thank you for the above steps, I will try these over the weekend.

Regarding the BIOS and IDRAC versions, the Bios is at version 6.6.0 and the original IDRAC that was installed when the issue started is at firmware version 2.92 (Build 05).

In your post above I think you missed the link for the repair package.

Regards

Sunny

Hi @DELL-Chris H ,

Sorry for the delayed response, I followed the steps that you provided for resetting the NVram.  Having reset the NVram i am still getting the error message and cannot still acces the Idrac.

I have downloaded the https://www.dell.com/support/home/en-ca/drivers/driversdetails?driverid=80xj1&oscode=ws8r2&productcode=poweredge-r710,but am not understanding how to use the tool, without having access to the webinterface of the idrac.

Sunnyghat,

Once you boot the server to the OS, are you able to ping the iDrac?

If so, what happens when you try to connect to the idrac ip via a web browser?

If you have the replacement iDrac installed, can you reinstall the original one and retry pinging from the OS?

Also, you may also want to consider that slot on the motherboard for the idrac may be failed, if so you may need to consider a motherboard replacement if all this fails.

Let me know what you see.,
