R440 IDRAC9 system update fails with LC023 RED004 DED068 because aftermarket intel X710-2?

On 4 out of 5 Dell PowerEdge R440 servers, I am trying to do system update via https from downloads.dell.com.

I had done this multiple times in the past with no issue. However yesterday, when manually doing system update, I get a failure with error LC023: Cannot access network share.

In the job queue there is a corresponding entry: RED004: Unable to complete the job because of an internal error

In the lifecycle log, there is a corresponding entry RED068 Unable to successfully complete JID_770167627768: Unable to complete the job because of an internal error.

I manually updated IDRAC to 6.10.00.00 from local and tried again, issue persists.

Next, I restarted IDRAC, issue persists.

Finally, I tried cold boot of server via IDRAC, issue persists.

All the affected systems have manually configured IPv4 and DNS which were unchanged from previous occasions and are analogous to that of the one working system.

The affected R440 servers all have an aftermarket Intel Ethernet Converged Network Adapter X710-2 installed.

The one R440 server that works has Dell provided Broadcom Adv. Dual 10Gb Ethernet installed

I am guessing something about the aftermarket X710-2 adapters is causing the issue, but these adapters have been present in the system since original deployment and system update has been performed many previous occasions with no issue. Removing these is not possible at this time.

Any ideas how to proceed? Thanks!

Ever solve this? I have the same thing at work as well. 3 different servers, all with iDRAC9, suddenly can't check for updates from the DRAC Web GUI. Nothing on the network changed. Servers on the latest firmware for iDRAC8 are all fine.

I did have one server that I was 'retiring', so I factory reset everything. And it still works. No idea why. Nothing is special/different.

Nope. Still looking for some advice on this.

So to specify, my issue is if I try to do Lifecycle updates from the web GUI of iDRAC. Today I decided to actually reboot the server and use Lifecycle Controller through the console. Updates there worked fine. After doing the updates, I tried to use the web GUI again, and again still fails. This works, but it's not ideal since it does add a bit more to downtime.

I was able to use either prior to 6.10.00.00. But checking for updates via the web GUI fails everytime since then, and continues to fail on the latest version (6.10.30.00).

Same here, this was working just fine.  I've 4 PowerEdge R750 and a PowerEdge R730.  In the past I could update drivers and firmware either through idrac on each server or through OpenManage Entprise virtual appliance, but not anymore.

Nothing has changed on my LAN.  All servers are set static IPs on the same primary subnet.  The last thing to get updated was the Dell OpenManage appliance last month, after that it won't pull any more patches.  It says my servers need patching but it won't download them.  And neither will the iDRAC.  I hate spending $30,000 on new servers and then this stuff happens.

Hello - i had the same issue on DX740 - the fix was:

Go to Dell website and download the latest version of iDRAC with Lifecycle Controller and install it manually.

Once completed, https: downloads.dell.com started to work.

Hope this helps.

Ran into the same issue, I even did a manual update of the iDRAC to 7.10 and still couldn't check for updates within the web GUI. Turns out I didn't have DNS set in the network settings of the iDRAC. Once the DNS setting was in I was able to pull updates from downloads.dell.com within the web GUI

I also had this issue of not having DNS set, worked immediately once I put in DNS for iDRAC.

Hello All. I fixed this by disabling IPv6 and making sure DNS settings are correct. Hope this helps.
