PowerEdge FC630 cpu1 temp issue

Hello,

We have Power Edge FX2s platform with 2xFC630 Power Edge server and one FD332 storage.

It's been up for 7 years, and it has iDRAC 8 version 2.40.40.40 and BIOS version 2.4.2. It has running ESXi VMs in one cluster.

There's problem CPU1 and CPU2 temperature being high (85-90C). I can't find any settings from iDRAC that increase fan speed. When I look it up, it says servers need to be restarted, in order to enter BIOS and change thermal settings from there.

Plus i want to update BIOS and iDRAC versions.

Problem, I don't know much about FX2s server and not sure if I can restart one server without affecting the other.

Please I need some experienced insight on this matter.

Thanks.

Hello,

did you try to see if in the CMC there is some option to change FAN settings?

I'm pretty sure that there are no FAN option in the BIOS.

Also yes I suggest to update BIOS CMC and iDRAC firmware. It depends by the two server configuration but it shouldn't affect the server.

Thanks

Hi DELL-Marco B,

Yes there is fan setup in CMC. I manage to lower the servers CPU temp successfully.

Thank you for your help.
