OMSA 11 failed to start at Dell R750

Hi there,

We rent huge amount of Dell servers from our hosting provider, but they told they don't provide support for software, only for hardware. Therefore I'm reaching you for the help.

We are running server Dell PowerEdge R750 with Oracle Linux 8.8 on top, with OMSA 11.0 installed.

It was installed from original Dell yum repository. All firmware are up to date. Kernel (red hat kernel) is little bit not up to date (other servers with same kernel don't have this issue though).

We have encountered a problem on some servers, that OMSA failed and could not be started/restarted.

At logs we see that some OMSA processes failed to start:

Aug 23 18:41:32 srv1 systemd[1]: Starting DSM SA Connection Service...
Aug 23 18:41:32 srv1 systemd[1]: Started DSM SA Connection Service.

I killed all omsa processes and cleared semaphores and tried to restart it again.

But nothing helps.

But this system is based on RHEL.

When using Dell repository, it recognizes system as RHEL based and installing omsa and other Dell tools on it.

On our other Oracle Linux servers omsa works pretty well.

BlueRat9,

For an issue like this I would normally try another version of OMSA, to verify it isn't a specific issue with the version, then run an sosreport on the working server and also on the non-working (if the same OS version) to see what the differences are.

If we can't track it down with those steps you may need to call in to the Sysmgmt/omsa team to review the logs and analyze it to determine the issue.

Let me know if this helps.
