No iDRAC Hostname

Trying to resolve IP addresses for device names in OME and noticed that the ones with this problem didn't have a host name in the iDRAC GUI > Dashboard > System Information. I followed these instructions, that's supposed to fix the issue, but the host name still doesn't appear:

  1. In iDRAC Web interface, go to iDRAC Settings > Connectivity > Network > Common Settings.
  2. Set Register iDRAC on DNS to Enabled.
  3. Provide a DNS iDRAC Name.
  4. Provide a valid Static DNS Domain Name.
  5. Click Apply.

Reset the iDRAC multiple times & It's had a couple of days to register with DNS... no improvement. I'm running OME 4.2.0 & iDRAC 7.10.30

Hello,

The "No iDRAC Hostname" error typically occurs when the iDRAC (Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller) is not configured correctly or is not able to obtain an IP address from the DHCP server. Here are some steps to help you resolve this issue:

Verify iDRAC settings :

Log in to the iDRAC web interface by accessing the iDRAC IP address (usually 192.168.1.120 or 192.168.1.121).

Check the iDRAC settings:

Ensure that the iDRAC is set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).

Verify that the iDRAC hostname is set correctly.

Check if the iDRAC is configured to use the correct DNS server.

Check DHCP server settings :

Ensure that the DHCP server is configured correctly and is providing IP addresses to the iDRAC.

Verify that the iDRAC is not already configured with a static IP address, which could prevent it from obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server.

Reset iDRAC settings :

Reset the iDRAC settings to their default values:

Access the iDRAC web interface and navigate to the "Settings" or "Configuration" page.

Look for the "Reset" or "Restore Defaults" option and select it.

Follow the prompts to confirm the reset.

Update iDRAC firmware :

Check the iDRAC firmware version and update it if necessary:

Access the iDRAC web interface and navigate to the "Update" or "Firmware" page.

Check for any available firmware updates and follow the prompts to update the iDRAC.

Verify OpenManage Enterprise settings :

Ensure that OpenManage Enterprise is configured correctly:

Verify that the OpenManage Enterprise server is properly connected to the iDRAC.
