No Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent for Dell Servers in dellsdpcatalog.cab

I am trying to import the catalog for Dell Server updates from https://downloads.dell.com/Catalog/dellsdpcatalog.cab to MECM but when I do the Dell Open Manage Inventory Agent (for Dell Servers) is not present.  I have an older installation of Dell Server updates for MECM (SCCM) but that catalog is months out of date.

Do I have the catalog for Dell server updates correct?

Is this tool still supported by Dell?

I'm currently using the partner catalog for Dell Business Client third party updates for MECM and it's working just fine but the sever side of things is giving me problems.

Hello J6720Dell,

Tech support in the US/Canada can be reached at 1-800-945-3355 and depending on the warranty entitlement you will be transferred to the correct support team. For using system management tools for updates you may need to ask for the Systems Management support team.

Hi @J6720Dell,

Do you have any errors when you import the newly download catalog from the link you have provided? Could describe more about the error that you are having, maybe a few screenshots. May I know what version of MECM that you are currently using? You mentioned about the older catalog, do you know the version of the catalog? What platform (such like server model and OS) are you having issue updating on?

I spoke to one of the engineers who worked with the catalogs, and verified that OMIA (Open Manage Inventory Agent) is DSIA (Dell System Inventory Agent). It seems that DSIA is available in the catalog.

Hi Joey,

I’m using the latest MECM version 2111 and I’ve imported the Dell Server catalog as a Custom Catalog.  When I sync the catalog, I don’t see the Server version of the agent (only the Business Client Agent is imported because I also sync with that Partner Catalog).

As a troubleshooting step, I installed the latest version of SCUP and imported the catalog https://downloads.dell.com/Catalog/dellsdpcatalog.cab dated 12/23/2021 but I only see a previously imported old version of the agent.  This is why I suspected I was using the wrong download location.

Today, I attempted another sync of the catalog and found the following entries in the SMS_ISVUPDATES_SYNCAGENT.log (times shown are UTC).

SyncUpdateCatalog: Completed parsing of catalog 'Dell Server Updates Catalog'  SMS_ISVUPDATES_SYNCAGENT                1/4/2022 2:57:05 PM     5848 (0x16D8)

SyncUpdateCatalog: Checking for any new catalog certificates... SMS_ISVUPDATES_SYNCAGENT 1/4/2022 2:57:05 PM                6668 (0x1A0C)

SyncUpdateCatalog: No new certificates were added.     SMS_ISVUPDATES_SYNCAGENT 1/4/2022 2:57:05 PM     6668 (0x1A0C)

SyncUpdateCatalog: Item 'Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent (for Dell Servers) 64-Bit' (Update:'5af0923a-2e94-4e60-99de-124cfa390a9f') Vendor 'Dell' Product:'Drivers and Applications' is synchronized to WSUS with content and has not changed, no action is necessary.      SMS_ISVUPDATES_SYNCAGENT 1/4/2022 2:57:06 PM    4092 (0x0FFC)

SyncUpdateCatalog: Item 'Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent (for Dell Servers)' (Update:'77fcc5ce-4383-458f-9aca-099e3d61dfcf') Vendor 'Dell' Product:'Drivers and Applications' is synchronized to WSUS with content and has not changed, no action is necessary.               SMS_ISVUPDATES_SYNCAGENT 1/4/2022 2:57:06 PM    4092 (0x0FFC)

The odd thing is that these updates don’t show in my MECM console.  When I use the PatchMyPC Publishing tool to look at what’s in WSUS, I do see DSIA in WSUS but they show as “Declined”.  Perhaps I should “un-decline” them, resync and see what I get?  That may work if I’m dealing with the latest DSIA versions.  Can you tell me if the latest versions of the DSIA are as follows?

DSIA_RWWCC_WIN64_1.7.3.msi Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent (for Dell Servers) 5af0923a-2e94-4e60-99de-124cfa390a9f 5/3/2021

DSIA_WK8K8_WIN32_1.7.0.msi Dell OpenManage Inventory Agent (for Dell Servers) 64-bit 77fcc5ce-4383-458f-9aca-099e3d61dfcf 10/16/2019

I appreciate any information you can pass along!

So I was able to un-decline and both DSIA now show in my MECM console! However I'm unable to publish them and download fresh copies. I fear by using the PatchMyPC tool I may have put these updates in an odd condition where the publish actions are greyed out. Because this is a test lab, I may simply blow away my SUP and WSUS database and start over. If you have an idea on how I can force these updates to publish, let me know. Otherwise I'll just start over.

Hi @J6720Dell,

At this point, I'm not good with MECM/SCCM with your setup. But I was told by the engineers that DSIA update is in the catalog, and there is an updated catalog today. Maybe you can try that. What is the server model that is having the issue?

But if the issue persist and if you're comfortable, you can try reinstall WSUS to test the issue. If not, the engineers that I spoke to need to analyze the logs to know what's the root cause, with this, you might need to call into support to create a request for it.

Hi Joey,  I think I will try to re-install my SUP/WSUS and try again.  Thanks for verifying I'm using the latest DSIA version and that I'm getting the correct catalog, that's a big help.

I'm prepared mark this as solved but before I do I need 1 more piece of information.  I'm working for a large Enterprise customer and I have tried in the past to place a support call for help on related Server Update issues but the folks I've talked to have not been able to help because they are unfamiliar with the Dell Server Updates feature and they suggested reaching out to this community.  If I need support in the future, is there a name of the engineering group that you've worked with to help on this?  Or is there a special enterprise support number to call?.
