Issues updating T320 firmware via Lifecycle Controller
Steps used to reproduce:
1. I updated to the latest version of Lifecycle Controller 2.65.65.65 so I could update since dell discontinued/irrevocably changed the ftp site (also https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/systems-management-general/lifecycle-controller-unable-to-connect-to-ftpdellcom/647f6be7f4ccf8a8de90ef68 and authoritatively https://www.dell.com/support/kbdoc/en-us/000128133/poweredge-server-lifecycle-controller-update)
2. Under Network Share -> HTTPS radio button downloads.dell.com populates in the Share Name/Address field. I also enter catalog in the file path or update package path.
3. When I click next and after it goes through the long verification process and I click through the error about the inability to import HTTPS certificate I get the following error message:
"Update Packages missing in the repository. (SUP0539)
Recommended Action: Enter another repository location that contains the desired Update Packages and retry the operation."
4. I tried downloads.dell.com/catalog/catalog.cab but I get the following error message:
"File extension not supported or the Update Package is invalid. (SWC0053)
Recommended Action: Use a valid Windows-based UPdates Package with an .exe extension."
5. Various forum posts and blogs (ex. https://www.dell.com/community/en/conversations/rack-servers/lifecycle-controller-update-issue/647f79def4ccf8a8de8080f3?commentId=647f7ae8f4ccf8a8de920568?keyword=11G%20remove , updateyodell.net, etc...) say Dell has been removing older generation firmware from the catalog (especially 11G or older), but T320 is 12G and I haven't seen any responses from Dell confirming they are removing post 11G firmware.
I would like to know what path or url to use for the updater to work correctly.

Hello I think we may have found a previous post that might help your understanding. 12 Gen is already removed.

@DELL-Young E Thanks for this info. I tried using different variations of the file path in the link provided in that post, but those attempts failed with either of the two error messages I described in this post. It looks like even if the xml contained just 12G drivers (which it probably does not) it contains drivers for all the different sku. I was hoping on using Lifecycle Controller to determine the drivers needed for the system from what exists and from the catalog.

Hello, so the link that Charles included back in January seems to be no longer avaialble. 12 Gen sever models are quite dated, and OME and DRM will not support it as well. We got rid of 12 Gen catalogues for good and all maintenance tools do not support 12 gen anymore. I assume no new updates.

You will need to manually get the files and push them from iDRAC, that's what I'm thinking.

@DELL-Young EThe https://downloads.dell.com/FOLDER09389969M/1/Catalog.cab works; I can download the cab. But the path doesn't seem to have the necessary files for iDRAC to update properly, is that correct? What files does iDRAC look for?

Hi, iDRAC uses the catalog to find the correct update file for your specific server and iDRAC version, then downloads it from Dell's servers. it acts like an index.

@DELL-Erman O So why would it fail if I point the path FOLDER09389969M/1/ given I can download Catalog.cab and all the drivers it points to just fine from that location? Is it hard coded to only work if pointed at catalog/? If so it seems like I could use a proxy server to respond to requests for https://downloads.dell.com/catalog/Catalog.cab with FOLDER09389969M/1/'s Catalog.cab.

Hello, I can share this link with you.
https://dell.to/4edkFKu
I understand that you found some catalogues that you can download but it does not necessary mean the firmware links are still alive.
iDRAC needs .exe files that no longer exist in https://dell.to/3zbWQDU
