iDRAC8 Upgrade Path
Hi,
I’ve searched the forums but I seem to be getting conflicting advice regarding updating the iDRAC 8 lifecycle firmware on a couple of Dell R630’s.
One of the servers is running firmware 2.60.60.60 and bios 2.13.0
The other is running firmware 2.63.60.61 and bios 2.9.1
The latest lifecycle bundle is 2.84.84.84, can I just install this or is it recommended to take a staged approach.
Any assistance or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Chris

Hello thanks for choosing Dell. This may help:
"Updating iDRAC firmware to the current version from versions earlier than 2.70.70.70 is not supported (For example, updating iDRAC firmware from version 2.60.60.60 to version 2.82.82.82 or later is not supported). First update to version 2.70.70.70 or higher, and then update to 2.82.82.82 or later."

Thankypou for that.
Do you think the BIOS version would have any effect on the upgrade? We have a suspected memory leak on the current iDRAC so the primary concern is getting this upgraded and if required we can do the BIOS at a later date.
Thanks in advance.

@Chris_L1970 BIOS has no effect in your case. I have similar issues like your situation. I have several racks with machines on unstable 2.63.60.61 and upgrading to 2.75.75.75. I'm intentionally avoiding 2.8x series due to enforcement of iDRAC.WebServer.HostHeaderCheck that no one except Dell wanted.
