dear,
i ve installed an new t320 board with the enterprise license.
i tried to configure the e-mail service, but without any success.
i get always the RAC0225 error.
What did i try:
iDRAC Settings>Network>Common Settings
DNS iDRAC Name: mail
Static DNS Domain Name: myionosdomain.de
SNMP and E-Mail Settings:
<Private data removed from public view. DELL Admin>
Gateway and DNS is set, i try different dns server, at the moment

gateway is local router
i ve no idea why i get always the f*** RAC0225 error.
i try although an different e-mail provider,
error was the same.
is it possible to get more information, why the email is not working?
just rac is not really helpful.
does the idrac7 support sending mail over ssl/tls?
does the idrac support secure standards in 2024?
please help me, thanks for the tips and support.
i search a long time, but found no solution. :-(
thanks

Hi,
Here's an article on how to set email alert on iDRAC 7: https://dell.to/3ZeM4Yh
I see that you have already mentioned on iDRAC DNS settings, just make sure that the DNS is a valid domain name.
Next is the SMTP server settings and destination email settings. The DNS name will not be 8.8.8.8 Google DNS, it is the SMTP DNS name, usually users may get error when use FQDN, hence please try SMTP DNS IP address. I found this YouTube video as example on SMTP configuration, this is iDRAC9 but the SMTP settings are similar: https://dell.to/4d1olOx

Hello,
iDRAC 7/8 will not have a full set of security features required for current SMTP servers, it will not work. I found some previous conversation related to as well.

hutze,
The iDRAC7 supports several email protocols for sending email alerts and notifications. These protocols include SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol), SNMP (Simple Network Management Protocol), and IPMI (Intelligent Platform Management Interface).
Now on a side note, seeing you had the RAC0225 error previously, is the server up to date on BIOS, iDrac, etc?

@DELL-Young E I read this post ealier.
Can You write me How I configure Common settings and mail alerts. Because there is many version on the other sites. How Dell want to configure it.
In DNS name and DNS address in common settings what can I write?
Name mail and name domain this mail. Gateway, DNS address??
I use a several Servers with iDRAC9 and everyting works.
The problem is encryption in mail?

Hi,
1. Common Settings
* DNS Name:
* Recommended: Use a descriptive name that identifies the server (e.g., "[invalid URL removed]", "dell-r750-a.local").
* Alternative: If you don't have a DNS server, you can use the server's hostname (e.g., "server1").
* DNS Address:
* If you have a DNS server, enter its IP address(es).
* If you don't have a DNS server, leave this blank.
2. Mail Alerts
* SMTP (Email) Server Settings:
* SMTP Server: Enter the IP address or hostname of your SMTP server (e.g., "http://dell.to/3WeztC3", "http://dell.to/3WfCBxD").
* Port:
* For most SMTP servers: 25 (for unencrypted connections) or 587 (for connections that start with TLS).
* For some providers (like Gmail, http://dell.to/4hc0a2u): 465 (for connections that use SSL/TLS).
* Encryption:
* None: If your SMTP server doesn't support encryption.
* TLS: Start the connection without encryption and then upgrade to TLS.
* SSL/TLS: Use SSL/TLS encryption for the entire connection.
* Authentication:
* Enabled: Check this box if your SMTP server requires authentication.
* Username: Enter the username for your email account.
* Password: Enter the password for your email account.
* Sender Email Address:
* Enter the email address that will appear as the sender in the alert emails (e.g., "[email address removed]", "[email address removed]").
3. Encryption Considerations
* Best Practice: Use TLS or SSL/TLS encryption to protect your email communication and prevent unauthorized access to your alert messages.
* Check with your Email Provider: Consult your email provider's documentation for specific instructions on how to configure SMTP settings and encryption.
* Test Your Configuration: After configuring mail alerts, send a test email to ensure that alerts are being sent and received correctly.
Key Notes:
* iDRAC9: Refer to the iDRAC9 User Guide for the most up-to-date and specific configuration instructions.
* Multiple Servers: These settings can be configured individually for each server with an iDRAC9 interface.
* Security: Always use strong passwords and follow security best practices to protect your email accounts and iDRAC interfaces.
I hope this helps! Let me know if
you have any further questions.

@Dell-Martin S There is now way thats works. I find a way.
In common setting I have to check Register iDRAC on DNS.
In iDRAC name I have to write first part of email address (email thet send alerts).
Static DNS Domain - domain mail which send emails.
The most important SMTP works 25 port only.
To the send emails You have to use email provider who use 25 smtp port
