iDRAC Bricked...?
I performed an iDRAC update through the Linux SUU on a PowerEdge R720, but the job seemed to hang in the Job Queue; when I was climbing around in the server closet, I inadvertently pulled power from the server, and now iDRAC will not initialize at all.
I have drained flea power, tried pressing the "i" button (neither of which light up at all any more), and put the firmimg.d7 file on a FAT32 SD card inserted into the front of the server, but have had no luck yet. Any other possible solutions?

Hello thanks for choosing Dell and welcome to our community.
The only way to recover is this one
PowerEdge: iDRAC Recovery Procedure with firmimg.d7 or firmimgFIT.d9 | Dell US
unless you want to get a new motherboard.

Thank you for the reply - I have followed those instructions, but it doesn't seem to pick up the SD card for use; should I be putting the SD card in the front panel slot? Is there anything I should be doing to force it to check the card?

You can hold ID button for iDRAC to reset "In order to reset the iDRAC without rebooting the operating system, press and hold the System Identification button for at least 16 seconds. Stop pressing the button when the cooling fans start spinning at full speed and the front LCD (if present) is off."
That may trigger iDRAC recovery assuming the SD card is visible for iDRAC
I have also personally done it before with USB stick (need to use USB2.0 ports)

Unfortunately the ID buttons don't light up at all, and I don't get that option. Can you confirm that the correct location for the SD card is the front-panel slot? I can keep trying there.

Thanks - I've been using the PCI SD card for a while now (for ESXi), so I'm familiar where that is; I just wasn't sure if I should be using that one or the front-panel (makes sense that it'd be internal, as the front panel is part of the iDRAC/Lifecycle, so it wouldn't be usable in this case).

Hello - unfortunately, I couldn't get that to work; while I could point the boot loader at any/all devices (I tried SD card, USB stick, DVD-RW), just placing the firmimg.d7 file at the root wouldn't be recognized as bootable, and wouldn't reflash the LifeCycle Controller. Is there some other way I should be presenting that firmware image to the boot loader to get it to perform the reflash process?

I haven't yet tried formatting the SD card Ext3 on a Linux VM and putting the file on it, but happy to give it a try.
