iDRAC 4.40.40.00 downgrade
Hello! A few years ago we bought 4 R440 servers. Everything was fine. But recently I updated them to the latest BIOS/IDRAC versions and problems started. The servers whistle so much that it became impossible to work. They are not in the server room. The fans were blocked in manual mode by 25%. Now manual fan control is unavailable due to IDRAC. I started rolling back all updates. Rolled back to 4.40.40.00. It does not allow me to go lower. Rollback does not work either via RollBack or via SD. How can I roll back to 3.30.30.30 so that manual fan control works? I did not find a solution for rolling back on the forum. The whole office is very unhappy with the howling of the fans, it has become impossible to work.

Hi,
I read in blogs that users manage to downgrade the iDRAC through firmware 'update' option, hence by downloading lower version file and use the file to downgrade. But we don't recommend doing so, as this may brick the server's Lifecycle Controller.

Hi,
Give me a link to a blog where IDRAC9 was updated to version 7 and then rolled back to firmware version 3. I haven't found a single blog where this was possible. I just see that everyone can't do it.
DELL has a strange position with blocking functions that users need. When downloading updates, there were no notifications about blocking fan control. If a solution is not found soon, we will get rid of all DELL servers.
Servers should work, and not create problems with howling fans.

Hi,
Here's the link I read before: https://www.reddit.com/r/homelab/comments/180x0aa/is_it_possible_to_downgrade_idrac_to_3303030_for/
As for the release updates, if you have a dispute, I would suggest raising a case with customer care and the technical support to address your issue.

Hi
If I hadn't updated IDRAC to the latest version, I would have been able to roll back to 3.30.30.0
But I updated to the latest version, and it is currently impossible to roll back from 4.40.40.0.
I'll say it again, for our money the equipment should work as the customer needs it, not as Dell needs it. And right now the situation is completely opposite.
P.S.
Even the cheapest computer can control the fan speed. DELL engineers should be ashamed of such work.
