ACPI Error on PowerEdge R640 with BIOS Version 2.19.1

Hi

I am writing to report an ACPI error on our PowerEdge R640. We have encountered the following error message:

Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.222693] ACPI Error: No handler for Region [SYSI] (00000000180bd39b) [IPMI] (20190816/evregion-129)
Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.231432] ACPI Error: Region IPMI (ID=7) has no handler (20190816/exfldio-261)
Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.234062] No Local Variables are initialized for Method [_GHL]
Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.234063] No Arguments are initialized for method [_GHL]
Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.234101] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PMI0._GHL due to previous error (AE_NOT_EXIST) (20190816/psparse-529)
Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.236868] ACPI Error: Aborting method \_SB.PMI0._PMC due to previous error (AE_NOT_EXIST) (20190816/psparse-529)
Oct  8 13:50:19 mail kernel: [   23.244951] ACPI Error: AE_NOT_EXIST, Evaluating _PMC (20190816/power_meter-743)

We have ensured that our server's BIOS is up to date (currently running version 2.19.1) and that we are using the latest updates for our Ubuntu Server 20.04.

The error appears to be related to ACPI tables, and we would appreciate your guidance on how to address or resolve this issue. It's important for us to maintain system stability and reliability while keeping ACPI enabled.

Thank you.

Hello, thanks for choosing Dell.
This is best directed to Ubuntu I'm afraid- as you can see from this article, https://dell.to/3M0GhxZ Depending on the OS, the command to disable differs too.

The following commands make the error disappear but the question remains if this is the real solution to the problem?
Thanks a lot

sudo rmmod acpi_power_meter
echo blacklist acpi_power_meter | sudo tee -a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist-power-meter.conf

Hello, glad it worked. I believe that is how you disable the H/W on the OS.
