Write Disabled alerts on an R2 device.

Not sure why I keep getting this message on our DR VMAX:

"A Symmetrix device has a member or a mirror that is Write Disabled".

It's 3MB RAID 10 device and not sure why some of them are automatically mapped to the host. I think it has to do with Port e0 on every VMAX. I may have to just remove that port from the mapping to clear this out but wanted to get some feedback from others.  It should be read only I know that but doubt it's supposed to be write disabled.

Are you saying these are different devices?

No this is one of the 3MB luns that is used in conjunction with S/E command line.  Call it a "buffer" lun (sorry my brain has gone blank with the naming convention for them).  I am not sure why it's saying it's write disabled. I thought it was write disabled by default.

Are you referring to Gatekeeper devices? How come they are Raid 10?

Yes. all the gatekeepers on the VMAX are Raid 10.  I found out the issue, there was a bad drive which was causing the "write disabled" messages.  You just have to dig around to figure out what's going on.  The VMAX doesn't change the LEDs on the drive that is bad (so people don't take out disks without following the right process).

The VMAX is very much the same as the DMX-3s -- and very different as well
