VMax3 cache disk sizes, bay / DAE placements
Couple of questions disk related on the new VMax family.
1. Does anyone know what disk sizes the new VMax supports - for Cache? Cannot find anything relevant in VMAX100/200/400K documentation.
For example, VMAX 400K supports upto 16TB (raw) - does that mean we can use 800GB / 1.6TB drives for Cache, or are we limited to 200GB/400GB disks?
2. Is there a recommendation on bay placement for DAEs with SSD heavy VMAX configuration? Lets say we have 300 SSDs as part of a VMAX Config and we have 5 bays (say all 2.5" DAEs), should we spread out 20% of SSD capacity per bay - or can we go crazy and saturate an entire bay with just SSDs?
Thanks

Hi,
About #1 -- the cache in VMAX is all DRAM memory; it's not flash storage like FAST Cache on VNX. So it's DIMMs, not SSDs.
For #2 -- EMC will distribute SSDs in a balanced fashion (across bays) for you in the factory.
Thanks,
- Sean
