Thin Provisioning
Say that I have assigned 100 Gig to server carved out thin provisioned pool and server admin uses the disk admin to create 100 gig partition .
As he has just created the partition and not the volumes , How is disk admin tool fooled that it can see 100 gig ?

The thin disk reports its size as the maximum available ie your 100Gig. The fact that it is only using a small fraction of that is hidden from the host.

Disk management sees the 100 GB LUN only, its the beauty of the Virtual provisioning that it shows virtual space as standard capacity to the host.
