syslog and snmp traps on vmax

Is there a difference between data captured thru syslog versus snmp traps?

If so, can someone break it down for me?

Also, how do I read syslog message(s) from a vmax frame?

Thanks in advance!

syslog: use the syslog wire protocol to forward event records to a remote syslog server, i.e., an RSA enVision server.

snmp: forward event records to a remote SNMP listener. Solutions Enabler only supports SNMP version 1 traps.

They both are generated by Solutions Enabler event daemon (storevntd). The main difference is target
