Storage capacity reporting
Hi All,
When I use control center storage scope to report the various capacity related parameters of our thin provisioned array, I find that, if there is a LUN presented to multiple hosts (let's say in case of a migration, the LUN is shared across multiple hosts), the LUN ID gets displayed twice in the report.
This might be perfect from the chargeback perspective, however, if we are looking at the reporting perspective all the totals are getting staggered from their real values. (Total capacity, Provisioned capacity, free capacity...) all these fields show an incremented capacity, because of these repetitions due to the shared LUNs.
Is there a way to over-come this issue, without much manual intervention, as I'll need this report automated on a daily basis and hence it is becoming a tedious task in filtering out the duplicate entries via excel filters.
Thanks,
SreeHari

I don't think StorageScope has an easy way to deal with that. ProSphere does, if that was a route you wanted to entertain. With ProSphere you can pick to split the capacity across all the hosts or pick a single host to assign it to.
I may have a custom crystal report I wrote in my Storage Scope days to deal with it.. I'll look this morning when I get into the office.

Hi Sreehari,
i don't remember if there is the possibility to create a query in order to avoid the LUN duplication.
