SRDF a clone target

I would like to know if it is possible to do a SRDF on a clone copy (turning a clone target to become R1)?

[Std Dev] <--> Clone  <--SRDF--> [remote]

Yes, It is possible to do SRDF on Clone Target. There are some restrictions as well.

More details are available in SRDF product Guide.

Ref the section. SRDF operations for TimeFinder/Clone copy sessions

SRDF/S or /A ?

Hi Jean.

Yes you can configure a clone target as SRDF source.

But only one restoration can be performing during restore (either Clone restore or SRDF restore) prior to engunity 5873. Both restore cannot work simultaneously. This is fixed in enguinity 5874.

I think convert the device to RDF1-BCV+R-5 will help serve as BCV as well as RDF1 right?

For clone, target does not need to be a BCV. A normal RDF+Raid-5 will work.

Strange! I can't convert BCV+R-5 to RDF1-BCV+R-5.

Wonder it will automatically converted from BCV+R-5 to RDF1-BCV+R-5 when I create pair, since it is Dyn RDF enabled.

Also... I put my BCV+R-5 in DG type Regular. Since I can't convert to RDF1-BCV+R-5, I would not allow to add BCV+R-5 device to DG type RDF1. So... assume it automatically converts BCV+R-5 to RDF1-BCV+R-5 when I create pair, will my DG change its type to RDF1 too? Else... what should I do?

yes, it will become R1 BCV once you create SRDF pair and if all devices in your group become RDF1, the whole dg will become RDF1
