Solution enabler on ESX 4i VM guest

Hi,

The GK are presnted as RDM. Is there any way I can check the mode of these devices on vsphere.

I have seperate Team who handles the VMware environment.

safe to assume that gatekeepers are presented to all ESX nodes in the cluster, as RDM in physical compatibility mode ?

there is nothing wrong with presenting gatekeepers to multiple physical ESX hosts, it's not like ESX is using them. If you want VMotion you need to present gatekeepers to all nodes on the cluster.

Thanks for your notes here.  We are able to use symcli from the VMguests. but We are not able to vmotion these guests to other ESX host. The vmotion is failing.

Since GK cannot be shared between two physical hosts, is there any way this guest can be vmotioned in the cluster and still SE works on VM guests.

if these gatekeepers work then they are provisioned correctly.

So Can I do this

I have 2 ESX hosts and one VM with SE 7.x installed

Can I Map the same GK to the both ESX and VM are seing the GK as physical disk as RDM.  Can this solve my problem of my vmotion and still SE works when Vmotion is completed

one of the document on the EMC says the Same GK cannot be shared with diferent Physical hosts. Could you confirm this. I will try to pul that article and post for your reference,.

that's correct, you don't want to share gatekeepers between multiple systems that will actually use those gatekeepers to talk to the array. In your case ESX is not using your gatekeepers, unless you present them to a VM and start using ECC Control Center, SMC, SPA, Solutions enabler ..etc.
