question regarding open replicator
here is my scenario:
we have a thinly provisioned 2tb lun on my hp box & host is using only 1tb out of 2tb lun now we migrated this data to vmax using open replicator{Hot pull} by creating a same 2tb thin lun in vmax.
now my question since host actually used only 1tb lun now on vmax frame after migrating how can we re-cliam the 1tb un-used space out of a 2tb thin lun.
is this something like making zero's is possible & shrink the 2tb lun to actuall used space....?

you can run it anyway ..can't hurt anything, worth case it will not reclaim a thing. Most likely you will need to do something else to get the most out of it.

take a look at that paper i posted, there is a reclaim command on Vmax, wether you get anything back will depend on how the database was provisioned and configured, these points are mentioned in the paper.

is there something we can shrink the 2tb thin lun to 1 tb thin lun on the vmax level ..? other than host level since we already copied the data using open replicator to vmax..

Hi emcadmin,
you have vmax then what else do you need. there are so many great features available in vmax for thin provisioning
. Run reclaim on remote device.

Hello emcsanadmin,
I have a migration scheduled very soon. Here is the case:
HOST OS: HP-UX 11.31
Source Array: XP1024 (Hp storage)
Target Array: VMAX
We are trying to use Open Replicator. I see that you did OR form HP array, could you please suggest me the steps that I have to follow.
