meta heads still show grp'd after dissolve
Hello,
Last week I dissolved a few large metas. When I search for free space, they meta heads still show up as grouped.
I still had the metas listed in my scripts and they were device 1010, 1200, and 1248. When I look for noport, nobcv, they show up, but still are listed with the grouped attibute. The other devices that were part of the meta are fine and listed as n/grp'd.
Why is this?
Thanks!

Yes, if you run “symdev show –sid 123 devname” ..you will see what device group it’s a member of. Then use symld –g

You need to remove them from the group, it’s not going to prevent you from creating the meta though ..it’s good that you clean them up.

That's great! Thanks again Dynamox. One quick question, when you say remove them from the group, are you referring to only the meta heads?

Hi,
I tried this command symld -g SAWMILL_STDS remove 1248 -force
and got could not select the specified device from the disk group.
I verified with the show command that this hyper is in that disk group.

you need to specify logical device name "DEVXXX" that matches symdev 1248.
symld -g SAWMILL_STDS remove DEVXXX -force

no problem at all ..in a few weeks you won't need your symm admin period, you can manage the array on your own
