Is VMAX with all iscsi access(Front ends and RF's) supported with VMware SRM?
Hi All,
We have 2 VMAX boxes with just iscsi front end ports and I want to configure vmware srm with srdf sra adapter to protect the vm's.
On the VMware SRA compatibility matrix tell's me that model and firmware supported, but vmware local team says that from their interpretation the array type is equal to host access to storage... I do not agree but have found hard to find emc documentation that proves my point.
Array Model(s) | Firmware Name | Firmware Version | Array Type |
---|---|---|---|
Symmetrix VMAX | Enginuity | 5874, 5875, 5876 | FC |
Symmetrix VMAX 10K | Enginuity | 5874, 5875, 5876 | FC |
Symmetrix VMAX 20K | Enginuity | 5874, 5875, 5876 | FC |
Symmetrix VMAX 40K | Enginuity | 5874, 5875, 5876 | FC |
Symmetrix VMAXe | Enginuity | 5874, 5875, 5876 | FC |
Can anyone clarify this for me?

Hi Paulo,
SRDF SRA supports only FC devices and No iSCSI devices. Just checked it out with the dev team.
Thanks

Can you explain why?
From my point of view the srdf sra adapter just needs to query gatekeepers, if the gk are presented from FC or iscsi is irrelevant because solutions enabler will work the same way.
Thanks in advance,

Hi Paulo,
The thing is the SRDF SRA was designed and tested to support FC devices only. iSCSI isn't supported and hence not tested.
I would suggest you raise an enhancement request with EMC to have iSCSI supported, testing needs to be done by the Engineering in regards to iSCSI.
Thanks
Arjun.
