Each engine has 2 directors. Each director has 4 DA CPUs or slices, A,B,C and D.

first order is 7,8(both from engine4) nd 9,10(both from engine5)
the next order is 5,6(both under engine 3) then 11,12(both under engine 6)
i try to remember this sequence wiith my rule of nine; 4+5, then 3+6, then 2+7 and 1+8.
Is my synopisis correct Li?

The question was about what engines are installed in a VMAX not how to connect on the FA ports. How would you determine via SYMCLI what engines are in an array? You have to display what directors you have and then know the relationship of director to engine layout which is in the manual I linked above. The engines are installed center out as SKT outlined above.

Hello!
Please run:
>symcfg -sid XXX list -env_data
one of the line will be:
Number of Enclosure Slots : N
where N is the amount of engines.

I think you mean symcfg -sid XXX list -env_data :
On our four-engine VMAX 40K :
C:\>symcfg -sid 1234 list -env_data | grep "Number of Enclosure Slots"
Number of Enclosure Slots : 4
And on our two-engine VMAX 20K :
C:\>symcfg -sid 4567 list -env_data | grep "Number of Enclosure Slots"
Number of Enclosure Slots : 2
Incidentally, for a VMAX 10K, you'll see multiple enclosure slots, since it enumerates each bay separately:
C:\>symcfg -sid 3456 list -env_data | grep "Number of Enclosure Slots"
Number of Enclosure Slots : 1
Number of Enclosure Slots : 1
Number of Enclosure Slots : 1
Number of Enclosure Slots : 1
Thanks!
