To expand an RDF meta device pair you have to do the following
1) Split or suspend the RDF
2) Symrdf deletepair
3) Expand R1 meta
4) Expand R2 meta
5) Symrdf createpair
6) Full establish
You do not have to remove the RDF capability attribute.

This cannot be done while the RDF session is active....you need to delete the pair, expand R1 and R2 to have the same size and member count, and then create the pair again

you will need to destroy RDF relationship, expand the R1, R2 and then perform full resync.

Hello Sumanthn,
not only you have to delete the pair but you have to REMOVE THE RDF attribut from the device!!!!!

or you meant to remove DYN_RDF attribute? I dont think that is required to expand the meta. The only precaution customer needs to keep in mind that the new meta member must also have DYN_RDF enabled.

rdf attribute is removed automatically once the rdf pair is deleted.

Hello Saurabh,
i meant to remove the DYN_RDF attribute, it is not removed by itself when the SRDF pair is deleted.
I have to search for the document that you have to remove the attribute since you want to expand the striped meta device.
In any case, as you mentioned after the meta expansion of course you have to set the DYN_RDF again.

Hi Yankees,
DYN_RDF from meta head only needs to be removed when the new meta members do not have DYN_RDF enabled on them. Otherwise you can leave the DYN_RDF enabled if its set on new meta members.

Also we have a SRDF/EDP setup with diskless devices being the R21.
When expanding R1 and R2 device how do we expand R21(diskless device). is there a process to expand them?
