No, pinning a device under FASTVP control just prevents future movements by FASTVP. If extents have already been moved by FASTVP, they will stay where they are at the time that you pin the device. If you wish to move extents back to the original tier, you can do so with symmigrate.

Hi Kquayle,
just to add my two cents, agreed with Mr. Sean.
Try to pin all the time the BOOT Devices, SWAP devices and maybe the REDO devices.
Those kind of devices no need to be promoted or demoted.
And try to fully pre-allocate those devices as well.
