Formatted in the sense,  the RAW Data on the Hard Disks were Configured(It may be RAID-5, SATA or Flash Drive), we need to Create the devices and bind them to the pools,,

Un Formatted means RAW DATA available for Configuration.

Hi Mohammed,

You can find the available freespace by running these commands,

symconfigure -sid XXXX list -freespace

Symmetrix ID: XXXXXXXXXXXX

    Emulation               Formatted    Unformatted
                                (Cyl)          (Cyl)
    ---------------------   ---------    -----------

    FBA                       4473644         304934
    IBM_FBA                   4473644         304934
    UNISYS_FBA                4473644         304934

You can also figure out the available freespace in Mega Bytes, but the default is Cylinders.

symconfigure -sid XXXX list -freespace -units MB

Symmetrix ID: XXXXXXXXXXXX

    Emulation               Formatted    Unformatted
                                 (MB)           (MB)
    ---------------------   ---------    -----------

    FBA                       4194041         285876
    IBM_FBA                   4194041         285876
    UNISYS_FBA                4128509         281409

Hope this one answers your question,
