DMX-4: When SRDF suspended, will it still occupy mirror position?

A RAID-5/RAID-10 production LUN configured to use SRDF will occupy 3 mirror positions, leaving 1 mirror position to be used.

Question here:  When I suspended SRDF, will it release 1 mirror position so that I have 2 mirror positions to use?

Another question: If I have the scenario above, and I configured TF/Mirror, so I will use the 4th mirror position. When I split the mirror, will I get back 1 mirror position so I can create second BCV?

HI,

Suspending the SRDF will not release the mirror position. Its only when you delete the SRDF pairing information (deletepair).

Since you have Raid 5 standard and assuming you have configured raid 5 bcv to take the TF mirror, it will use Clone emulation in the backend and will not consume the mirror position.

TF/Mirror -->Split: The 4 position is free, but you need full establish for the next establish with this pair. Is very easy to use the TF/Clone, and this pair will not consume position.

SRDF--> Suspend. The position is active, you need to split for free also this position, the next establish with this pair, is full also.

I send also, but ist' not refresh;

SRDF; for delete position, you need split the pair and delete pair, in this momment you have this position empty, and of course, you need to create this pair aggain, and to do full establishh.
