Device mapping database
In compare to HDS how the device mapping database kept in EMC DMX ??
I know in HDS its get stored it Sequel Database format . I belive in EMC its get storage in flat file format. is this true ?? Is the format got changed in new V-Max
That is why when we compare HDS USP with EMC DMX/VMAX they do put forward this point , so because of Sequel DB for they are more faster.
Device mapping db is mapping Meta to hypers and hypers to slice of disk.

it's in the bin file that resides on the service processor. When you create/delete/modify devices with SMC/ECC/symcli ..bin file reflects those changes.

DMX and V-max maintains the mappings in VCMDB and I thought it's EMC proprietary than any standard DB format..Some of the EMC folks can clarify you.
You can use the existing backup utility symmaskdb to backup and restore it or in the case of V-max,SMC can be used.

You talking about the Masking database , thats in VCMDB. I want to understand about Device Mapping DB and surely its not there in VCMDB.
What i mean by Device Mapping db is meta is made up of which hypers and where those hypers reside on which disk . Its complete info about any device hyper or meta or any other.
Waiting for EMC folks to reply on it
