Data error (cyclic redundancy check).

Hi all,

I allocated storage for windows 2008 r2 cluster  from DMX4.Now the server team is saying they are getting error"

Data error (cyclic redundancy check)."while initallizing disks.can anyone tell me where the problem is

device is write enabled ? All Win2k8 flags are set properly (at FA or HBA level ? )

don't think you need SCSI-3 Persistent Reserve unless it's a Win2k8 Cluster ? Using PowerPath ?

what do you mean dynamic device ? Thin device ? Was it bound to a pool ?

Do you mean device with DYN_RDF flag? That wont cause this issue. I have a feeling that device had some kind of lock on the backend. I have seen in the past that devices which are moved across the FA ports may left with some strange locks that do not allow devices to be initialized on Windows and lock needs to be removed from the backend (its not the device lock)

Did you check with PSE labs at the time of the issue?

Hi dyanmox..

it is Win2k8 Cluster and alsa powerpath installed on it..dynamox now issue is resolved..i assigned them a dynamic device.

now i removed it assigned a standard device.But i have a doubt..even though i assigned them a dynamic device it is not

writed disable..can u tell me why it did not initialize.
