Crash Recovery - how to identify which devices..
My next project is to rebuild an HP-UX server that experienced a total HDD / CPU failure and needed to be rebuilt. I wasn't the one that actually set this server up, and that person is gone.
My question is, after I install the OS, and the all the necessary Symmetrix tools (symcli, powermt, etc), how do I identify on the DMX-4 which devices were assigned to the server? I don't believe the WWN of the FC cards will change, so is there an easy way to just find out what the devices are?
It's probably a simple solution, hopefully.
Thanks.

if the WWN remain the same it's simple a matter of running this command:
symmaskdb -sid 123 list devs -wwn XXXXXXXXXXXXXX

Is it likely that the WWNs of the cards stayed the same, considering a motherboard failure? Basically, are the WWNs of cards hard coded into the card, ala a MAC address?

yes, typically WWNs are hard coded on the asic of the HBA
