CKD deletion on DMX - What are the steps to follow?
Hi everyone
We are preparing to turn of two of our old DMX4, and I am having problem on deleting some of its CKD devices.
I was able to "z/OS unmap" almost all of them, but a couple could not be deleted because they kept mapped to z/OS.
It seems DMX cannot be without CKD devices mapped to z/OS or, at least, to the EF ports.
Does anyone know what are the steps to delete CKD devices?
Please, post your considerations!
Tks

Please consider moving this question as-is (no need to recreate) to the proper forum for maximum visibility. Questions written to the users' own "Discussions" space don't get the same amount of attention and questions can go unanswered for a long time.
You can do so by selecting "Move" under ACTIONS along the upper-right. Then search for and select: "Symmetrix Support Forum" which would be the most relevant for this question.

Hi everyone.
I had some dificult to understand how I could format all the disks on DMX4. But, after some hours analysing, I have discovered that the front end ports cannot be empty, it is, without CKD volumes assigned to them.
So, in order to format all the disks, I had to create new CKD volumes and then assign to the EF ports. And then, I was able to remove the original CKD volumes.
Untill now, perhaps I was able to format all the frame, its not clear to me what are the steps needed to delete CKD volumes that are mapped to z/os.
There was some configs, like alias and CU images.
It worked because I issue to unmap the volumes from z/os, using Unisphere.
