Can you allocate storage during a rebalance?
I initiated a rebalanced on our VMAX yesterday and my question is can you provision storage while a rebalance is in progress? I didn't expect the rebalance to take so long (About 1% an hour.) I want to maintain an even stripe and my concern is that if I allocate during a rebalance the data will only be striped to the new Tdats. Does anyone have any insight into this? Thanks

Rebalance is a low priority job on VMAX so it may take time on a heavily used box. If you allocate a tdev during rebalancing, the rebalancing job will re-re-balance the tracks on the pool until it reaches variance of 1 or something %.
