attributes for srdf/star

Is it mandatory to set dyn_rdf attribute for the STD devices involved in the srdf/star ??

Is there any option to enable the attribute=dyn_rdf by default when we create a device??

Yeah you definitely need that set. The symstar setup process will fail if the devices are not set to be dynamically RDF1 or RDF2 capable.

symconfigure

     create dev count= ,

          size = [MB | GB | CYL],

          emulation= ,

          config=

          [, data_member_count= ]

          [, remote_config= ,

             remote_data_member_count= ,

             ra_group= , [remote_mvs_ssid= ],

             [dynamic_capability =

              [dyn_rdf | dyn_rdf1_only | dyn_rdf2_only ]]

i don't have experience with start but looking SRDF/Start operations chapter i see R1's and R2 ..that tells me you have to have that attribute.

Hi,

Dynamic_capability Option is mandatory for the devices to participate in SRDF operations. whether SRDF/S or A or STAR.

If the device is a meta device. do we need to enable this dynamic_rdf option on each and every meta member or enabling on meta head will do ???

Its better you create all the hypers with dynamic feature so you don’t need to worry about it at later point.

Enable dynamic_rdf option on Meta Head only.

starting with code 5875, all hypers by default have this flag enabled.
