XPS15 9510 SupportAssist PCI Bus - Functional Tests - D0701

XPS 15 9510

XPS 15 9510

Hello everyone,

Anyone running into this error? Every time I run a hardware scan on SupportAssist I get this error.

Saw this issue on a similar forum, so I was wondering if anyone had gotten it resolved:

Also I have ran the pre-boot diagnostic test as suggested and it seems to have ran with no issues, but I did notice that I have 2 PCIe Bus slots that are empty. Is this normal to have those slots empty, or could that be attributing to the error as well?

Thanks,

Sean

Thank you! We have received the required details. That D0701 error is simply a SupportAssist analytical notation. This is not a hardware fault. In future, Dell will remove these SupportAssist analytical notations from the diagnostic results.

I received the D0701 error as well (which is 3 yrs down the road).  Am I interpreting the response above that it is an internal analytic notation that will be removed & there is nothing for me to do?

Thank you!

Hi Harperlady:

See my 10-Dec-2023 post in mike2084's Fail Support Assists PCI Bus - Functional Tests - D0701. As noted in that post, if you run an ePSA (enhanced Pre-boot System Assessment) hardware diagnostic from your BIOS and it doesn't detect any problems with your hardware components then you can safely ignore this D0701 analytical code.

The support article How to Run Dell Preboot Diagnostics and Hardware Tests on Your Dell Computer and companion video at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inYLxW2_xKo explain how to start your ePSA diagnostics (i.e., restart your computer, repeatedly tap the F12 key as soon as the Dell logo appears, and choose Diagnostics from the boot menu screen).  If this doesn't display your boot menu then restart your computer and try again, quickly tapping the F12 key about 2 times every second.

The ePSA will initially run a standard Quick Test of all your hardware components. In your case, I'd suggest you also run an advanced diagnostic scan for your PCIe Bus as instructed in that Dell support article.  If either scan detects a problem post back and let us know the exact error code (e.g., 2000-0xxx) it generates.
