XPS 8930 SupportAssist Failed to Install
My Dell opened with SupportAssist Version 3.10.4 this morning and announced a new version was available.
It did the update, but after a long while the program told me that it Failed to Install, Please reboot your PC.
Which I did and tried again to install several times but to no avail.
I then uninstalled the old version, then from Dell's Support site check for new updates, where it detects no SupportAssist is installed on my system and downloads, but fails to install.
Any help and suggestion greatly appreciated.

@Tedco Do you really need SupportAssist?

No you do not ! I use the "Dell Update" app instead, just checks for updates. The other SupportAssist functions are dubious, at least on a healthy system. Of course SupportAssist allegedly wedges into the boot process, to try to recover from problems at boot time.

Thanks for your replies,
The installer runs all right and are Getting Application Files, but the "Installation Failed. We were unable to complete the installation, Please reboot your PC and try again".
I have tried that several times, but getting the same message.
I may not strictly need SupportAssist, but do like the various options it offers. Especially I am able to restore my computer to factory settings, which I have done a few times.
Since my computer is a couple of years old, I am not able to ask Dell Support - unless I create Premium Support.
All help and support greatly appreciated, thanks.

Just a few suggestions: temporarily disable any third-party anti-virus and anti-malware applications. They have been known to block the installation of SupportAssist.
You can also launch Windows Explorer and look for any folders leftover, like "SupportAssist" and "SARemediation" and delete those.
If you have "Fast Startup" enabled, disable it too. It can cause all kinds of weird and wonderful problems.
You can also try a "Restart" which is not the same as Shut Down and turning the computer back on again.
Personally, I dumped both SupportAssist and Dell Update almost a year ago. Too many issues. I just go to the Dell website, Support, insert my Service Tags and manually check for driver updates weekly.
Good luck and have a great day.
Regards,
Phil

I pinged my Dell tech contacts...
Has anyone used Revo Uninstaller (free) to uninstall everything related to SupportAssist? Be sure to allow Revo to set a System Restore point before it deletes anything.
Near the end, Revo will present several screens with leftover items (in bold). Be sure to mark all of them for deletion. Do NOT delete anything Revo shows in red on those screens
Then reboot and try a clean install.
There are also a number of similar threads in the SupportAssist forum so see if there's anything helpful over there.

Hi Tedco:
Users currently having problem updating / installing SupportAssist should note that there has been a major change to the system requirements for latest SupportAssist v3.11.4.29 (released 23-Jun-2022), which now requires the .NET (Core) Runtime v5.0 in addition to the "classic" MS .NET Framework v4.7.2. See my 24-Jun-2022 post in DavG94's Dell SupportAssist Fails to Install for further details. In theory the SA v3.11.4.29 installer should automatically download and install the .NET (Core) Runtime v5.0.17 if it's missing from your system but that apparently doesn't always happen. Support for .NET (Core) Runtime v5.0.x ended on 10-May-2022, so someone from Dell will have to explain why they released a new SA v3.11.4.29 on 23-Jun-2022 that requires an unsupported (and now insecure) .NET Runtime.
I see that employee DELL-Nathalia M posted today (28-Jun-2022) in Admiral1989's SupportAssist - Installation Failed Message that Dell is currently working on a fix for some of the recent SupportAssist installation errors so they obviously know there's an issue with the installer. Moderator jbilinski also posted in that thread today that "Dell TechHub replaces Dell Hardware Scan service and is needed to run the Hardware Scan panel" so that's another major change that's been introduced in SupportAssist v3.11.4.29.

Hi, I have the same exact problem, SA v3.10.4.18 popped an update window, clicked on it, installation failed - please reboot PC. Uninstalling it then trying to reinstall just make matters worse.
As a bonus, now my Dell Command Update UWA v4.4.0 also decided to join SA for not working, and unable to be reinstalled.

Any thoughts appreciated.

Bro, I had similar issues with SA (and also Dell Update). I started my own thread. As of now, I managed a fix for my issues. Have a look here https://www.dell.com/community/SupportAssist-for-PCs/Dell-Support-Assist-and-Dell-Update-failed-Inspiron-3881-desktop/m-p/8232597/highlight/true#M93222
Hope it helps.
