XPS 15 9570, SupportAssist, update not installing

Hello, Dell pushed an update for SupportAssist earlier this month, but it doesn't seem to install. It starts updating automatically when I open the app. So good so far...and thats exactly how far it goes. I can see is downloading two things(can't really tell what, since these packages ar so smal) and right after that the cancel button greys out and it says "Downloading and installing SupportAssist start-up files". It is already doing this for about 1.5 hour.... Can anyone offer a solution?

Followed all directions. Admin account was initiated. etc. But bottom line is SUPPORT ASSISTANT still would not install, on my Inspiron 13-5378 Laptop even within the Administrator account.

At one time SupportAssist was installed on and worked fine was on my laptop, but it seems to just have disappeared at some unknow time. I thought it would be a simple task to update SupportAssist when it was offered many times by the Dell Update system but it will just not install. It down loads the installer file, and runs but never completes the complete install of the actual SupportAssist program, even after hours of waiting for it to complete (or even start the actual install after its downloaded I assume). I wonder if the actual program .EXE is ever even actually downloaded by the Install program.

I just give up, hoping Dell will fix this someday. soon.

Command returned "System error 5 has occurred."

Didn't work.

Support Assist has been hosed for the last 2-3 weeks.

I am unable to install Support Assist as well on my Alienware 17.  I get the following message while it uploads files:

"We encountered an error while installing Support Assist. Please reboot your PC and try again."
